Biography
Dr. P. K. Sukumaran Nair
Dr. P. K. Sukumaran Nair was born in Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala on April 23rd, 1948. His parents are P. N. Kesavan Nair and D. Pankajakshy Amma. After securing an MA in Sociology (1971) from Loyola College of Social Sciences, TVPM, he went on to pursue a PG Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations (1983), from SCMS, Cochin, and was awarded a Doctorate in Sociology (1996) from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. He began his career as a lecturer in Tribal Research and Training Centre (present KIRTADS), Kozhikode, in 1975. In 1998, he joined, on deputation, as the first Project Officer of Kerala Women’s Commission, TVPM. He was in charge of the publication of both KIRTADS and KWC. He retired from Government service as Director, KIRTADS in 2003. He is married to A. Kamakshy (Retd. Additional Director, Social Welfare Department) and they are blessed with a daughter and son, Sangeetha and Aravind.
