The need for safety monitoring has evolved around unfortunate incidents in history, with deaths caused by anesthesia and congenital malformations from thalidomide use. The purpose of this book is to present the case for the importance of pharmacovigilance, to record its growth and potential as a significant discipline within medical science, and to describe its impact on patient welfare and public health. This book is also be useful for the B. Pharma, Pharm D and M. Pharm students. The basic objective of pharmacovigilance is the safe use of drugs, patient safety, and, ultimately, safeguarding public health. To achieve this goal, national regulators and international organizations should empower healthcare professionals and the public to report more ADRs.
