‘The Local Tales’ is a collection of 12 short stories that encapsulates the essence of the Mumbai local train and the chance encounters of people on their way to their destinations. We as individuals do not really choose our co-travellers in life, we are just destined to be with some select ones, but when it comes to our co-travellers in a local train, I am always amused how God or destiny picks them for us, as there is a different set of people every time we travel in a local train. We might never travel with them again, and yet there are some we always seem to encounter. The local tales take you through the meeting by chance of 24 people, who will be introduced to you through 12 different stories on 12 different trains at 12 different stations of life! Every story will leave you with a little smile on your face, and every character will remind you of someone you know. It will take you through numerous stations of life where conversational trains will start, halt, and at the end, all of them will reach their desired stations.
