Trained at Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, his expertise spans psychiatry, early psychosis, suicide risk, psychoneuroendocrinology, and digital mental health. He has pioneered stage-based models of suicide risk and developed tools such as SIS-MAP, MASS, and RELIEF. His work integrates research, clinical practice, and scalable digital innovations in student and public mental health systems. In recent years, Prof Srivastava’s work has focused on student and youth mental health through the development of scalable digital screening and staging systems for early identification, resilience, and help-seeking in academic settings. He developed the MASS (Mental Assessment and System for students) psychometric battery and the RELIEF (Risk Evaluation and Life Enhancement Framework) digital platform, enabling large-scale, culturally adaptable screening and longitudinal monitoring. These tools have been implemented across universities and community programs and have been integrated into education, referral, and early intervention pathways. His translational approach emphasises converting research into real-world tools, services, and policies that improve access, equity, and outcomes.
