Problem of Health and Hygiene has been highlighted by hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji in the past years. Health is defined as a state of being free from illness or injury. It also includes a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Hygiene is defined as a series of practices and performances to preserve health. As there is scattered matter on health and hygiene hence a comprehensive attempt has been taken to compose this book in limited seven chapters namely; Public Health and Hygiene; Nutrition and Human Health; Nutritional regulatory physiology; Food Additives and Human Health; Communicable Disease like measles; Polio; Chicken Guniya; Rabies; Plague; Leprosy and AIDS.
Also non-communicable diseases like Hypertension (High Blood Pressure); Coronary heart disease; Stroke; Diabetes; Obesity and Mental disorders has been described. The book may be helpful for general public and also students of paramedical sciences and medical sciences.
Besides the afore mentioned topics, pathogenic nature of microbes has also been described in this book. The book has been written in lucid and fair language for better understanding of students of various Colleges and Universities of India. Lack of comprehensive treatise on Human Health and Hygiene has prompted this humble piece of work leading to the problems of health and hygiene. This will prove an ideal text book for UG and PG students of Zoology, Environmental Science, Home Science looking for a comprehensive source on a wide variety of topics related with health and hygiene. Inclusion of communicable and non-communicable diseases could be an added advantage for the readers. It is hoped that the book will be an invaluable tool for students, researchers, teachers and practitioners also working in the field of health and hygiene.
