Description
You do not need to follow a religion to read this book. You do not need to accept a belief because it is old or reject it because it is unfamiliar. Test each idea against your own life. If it helps you see more clearly then use it. If it asks you to deny reality then leave it. This book is also an enquiry into what real meditation is. Meditation is not the forceful removal of thought, the performance of calm or an escape from practical life. Here it begins as honest awareness and deepens into non-doing: a receptive state in which unnecessary inner control can soften while responsibility remains. Later parts of this book discuss spontaneous movements, changes in breath, strong emotion, Kundalini, chakras and subtle energy. These subjects require care. A personal experience can be meaningful without becoming scientific proof. A traditional map can be useful without becoming human anatomy. Please do not force the breath or the body. Do not try to produce an awakening. If any practice brings panic, severe sleeplessness, confusion, pain or difficulty functioning then stop and seek appropriate professional support. A sound spiritual path should make daily life more honest and steady. It should not make you afraid of your own mind.
